Ginataang monggo is a Filipino favorite sweet dessert or merienda (snack) consist of toasted mung beans, sticky rice, sugar and coconut milk. It’s similar to ginataang mais the only difference is whole kernel corn is used. Try this sweet and creamy rice porridge dessert and you’ll be delighted.

Ginataang Monggo Recipe

½ cup sticky rice(malagkit), washed
½ cup mung beans
2 cup coconut milk
¾ cup sugar
Water as needed

1. Heat pan and add mung beans. Toast mung over medium heat until slightly toasted. Let it cool.
2. Crack mung beans using mortar and pestle.
3. Heat pan and pour-in coconut milk. Let it boil. Add sticky rice and toasted mung beans. Lower the heat. Stir occasionally. Add water as needed to cook sticky rice and mung beans. Cook for 30 minutes or so or until sticky rice and mung beans are soft.
4. Add sugar and stir to dissolve. Turn-off the heat. Serve hot
