Hello and welcome back to In the Kitchen with Matt I am your host Matt Taylor. Today I am going to show you how to make amazing lemonade. Mmm yummy, it’s summer time; a great way to cool of is to take a tall glass of ice cold freshly squeezed lemonade and drink it up. I had a request from someone to make some lemonade, so here we go, let’s make some lemonade. First what we are going to do is we are going to make a simple syrup. We take one cup of water. And I am not using tap water; I am using an RO filtered water. I don’t recommend using tap water unless your tap water taste really good, use a filtered water. Then we take one and three quarters cup of sugar, white granulated sugar, add that to our water. All right let’s take this over to the stovetop, and put it on medium heat and then stir it until it boils. So we have our burner on medium heat and I am just going to come in here with a wooden spoon, and I am just going to stir, and we are going to keep stirring until all the sugar dissolves, creating a simple syrup. And you don’t have to stir the whole time, like you can stir it, let it sit a little bit, after 10 20 seconds, come in here and stir it some more. It is almost to the point to boiling, a few more minutes here. Okay once it is boiling what we are going to do is take it off the heat and let it cool to room temperature. All right while our simple syrup is cooling down we need to get one and a half cups of lemon juice, so I am going to use fresh lemons. And each lemon will have somewhere between a quarter cup and 1/3 juice in it, give or take depending on the size of the lemon. So let’s go ahead and start cutting these up and juicing these. I just have this little citrus juicer, you can use whatever kind of juicer you want or just hand juice it, if you do hand juice it, and you want to use a strainer to catch the seeds. If you want to pick up one of these little hand juicers I will put a link down below where you can get one, they are pretty handy, I like mine. All right once you have all the lemons squeezed, it wound up being 8 total medium lemons, and I got to one and a half cups. What I am going to do is I also poured my simple syrup into this little bowl and I am just going to go ahead and cover this up, and I am going to take both of these and put them in the refrigerator to chill for about 20 to 30 minutes. All right once everything is chilled what I did is I actually transferred the water into this other container. This is a brand new container I like the way it looks better. Now once everything is cool we just add it all together, let’s take our simple syrup, and then let’s add our lemon juice and if you want to add to the look of it, like presentation wise, throw in um three or four or five slices, thin slices of extra lemon, it will be pretty cool. And then I am just going to give this a stir, put on our lid. All right that is how you amazing lemonade. A couple of tips, if you really just want a glass of lemonade, and don’t want to go through all the trouble and make this much, then just take a glass that holds at least 8 ounces of water, and then take a lemon, one lemon, squeeze all the juice into your glass, add 8 ounces of water, and a little bit of sugar, a little bit at a time until you get your desired sweetness, and you will have a decent glass of lemonade. It will not taste as good as this but it will still be pretty good. Another thing, if you have a party, of like a barbecue or something, and the lemonade is going to sit out for a while and you don’t want it to get watered down by ice, then take your lemonade and make ice cubes from it, then use those ice cubes in your lemonade, that way your lemonade does not get watered down, but still stays cold. Pretty cool.
