I decided to break the boredom curse by malting 6 pounds of popcorn for my favorite hobby, making booze. Malting a grain, or sprouting and drying, is done to produce critical enzymes in the grain that are necessary to convert the internal starches into sugars so that we can brew and ferment the grain to make alcohol. I’ll be using this malted popcorn for brewing a few beers in a later project.

Did I mention Moonshine? Yes, I did. Sadly and unfairly, home distilling for personal use, even if you have no intention to sell it, is illegal in the U.S. Since the idea of prison freaks me out, I won’t be doing any distilling. That said, what you choose to do with the grain is your business. No judgements here.
